Opus is set to change London’s skyline as the tallest residential building in the city
London, famous for its building restrictions, has only ever had a handful of impressive skyscrapers – The Shard and Tower 42 being two of them. In an effort to preserve the city’s character, heritage, and views, especially those of iconic landmarks such as St. Paul’s Cathedral, high-rise living is a rare privilege that many don’t get to enjoy in the capital city. With the arrival of Opus, however, that’s about to change.
Led by British developer Native Land, Opus will be the first residential building at the Bankside Yards development, and will stretch an impressive 170 metres into the sky to become the tallest residential building in London. Designed by world-renowned studio PLP Architecture (who also designed 22 Bishopsgate, soon to be the tallest tower in London), Opus will be a 50-storey building with a view to die for.
Located along London’s South Bank cultural walkway, just adjacent to the famous Tate Modern, the riverside development will comprise 249 apartments and penthouses ranging from studios to four-bedroom apartments, as well as luxurious penthouses that give living in the clouds a whole new meaning. Each apartment promises river and city views, which you’ll get to enjoy to the fullest thanks to the floor-to-ceiling windows.
Its list of amenities are just as impressive. Sports enthusiasts will love all the usual offerings such as a hydrotherapy pool, current pool, fully-equipped gym, and yoga and Pilates studio. If that’s not enough, there’s also a bouldering wall, golf simulator, and padel court for those who want to try or hone their skills in these increasingly trendy sports. These sports amenities are situated within The Arches, which have been converted from restored historic railway arches in the £2.5 billion mixed-use development Bankside Yards.
For the creative, there’s a screening room, podcasting studio, music room, and art studio, so you won’t have to travel far to create content. To enjoy the outdoors without leaving the tranquility of the building, visit the generous terrace with spectacular sweeping river views on the 23rd storey, which also has a lounge, bar, and private dining room that’ll accommodate big groups of friends and family over special occasions.
Opus will also be the UK’s first major fossil fuel-free, mixed-use development in operation, which makes it one of the most eco-friendly buildings in the country today.
